SIX KEY BENEFITS OF SUPPLEMENTING L-GLUTATHIONE

L-glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant produced by the body. It plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health and well-being. Here are six key benefits of supplementing L-glutathione:

1. Boosts Immunity: L-glutathione helps to enhance the immune system by reducing oxidative stress in the body. It helps to strengthen the immune system's ability to fight off infections and diseases.

2. Improves Skin Health: L-glutathione is known to improve skin health by reducing the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin darkening. It also helps to protect the skin from UV damage and other environmental factors.

3. Detoxifies the Body: L-glutathione is an important detoxifier that helps to eliminate harmful toxins and heavy metals from the body. It also supports liver function by aiding in the removal of harmful substances from the body.

4. Reduces Inflammation: L-glutathione helps to reduce inflammation in the body, which is often the root cause of many chronic diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes.

5. Enhances Athletic Performance: L-glutathione is known to improve athletic performance by reducing muscle damage and fatigue. It also helps to increase endurance and stamina.

6. Supports Brain Health: L-glutathione helps to protect the brain from oxidative stress and free radical damage, which can lead to cognitive decline and other neurological disorders. It also helps to improve memory and cognitive function.

Ingredient #1: Guggul Extract

Ability to lower blood sugar

  • Effects of guggulsterone isolated from Commiphora mukul in high fat diet induced diabetic rats
  • https://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S0278691509003524
  • Four groups of rats were fed high fat diet, for 16 weeks
  • Guggulsterone demonstrated a differential effect with a significantly improved PPARgamma expression and activity in in vivo and in vitro conditions
  • The results presented here suggest that the guggulsterone has both hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effect which can help to cure type II diabetes.

Helps reduce triglyceride, total cholesterol, and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels

  • A Comparative Study of Lipid-Lowering Effects of Guggul and Atorvastatin Monotherapy in Comparison to Their Combination in High Cholesterol Diet-Induced Hyperlipidemia in Rabbits
  • https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.3109/19390211.2015.1118654
  • Male New Zealand White rabbits were made hyperlipidemic by feeding cholesterol (0.5 g/kg) for three weeks and randomly divided into a control and three treatment groups receiving: atorvastatin (3.7 mg/kg), guggul (3.5 mg/kg) and their combination (same dose) for the next three weeks
  • All treated groups had significant reduction in cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) in comparison to pre-treatment values and control group, and had significant increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in comparison to pre-treatment values.
  • Combination of atorvastatin and guggul was comparable to their monotherapies in improving lipid profile.

Ingredient #2: Bromelain

Effective at alleviating swelling

  • Efficacy and tolerability of bromelain in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis
  • https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24273953/
  • 12 patients suffering from CRS with (CRS+NP) or without (CRS-NP) nasal polyps who had undergone prior sinus surgery were treated with bromelain tablets (500 FIP) for three months.
  • Treatment with bromelain tablets (500 FIP) improved TSS, TRS and SNOT-20 GAV on average.
  • This treatment was found to be more effective, however, for CRS-NP than for CRS+NP. The average intake was six tablets, equivalent to a daily dosage of 3000 FIP. No adverse events were observed.

Reduces inflammation

  • Inhibition of Epithelial TNF-α Receptors by Purified Fruit Bromelain Ameliorates Intestinal Inflammation and Barrier Dysfunction in Colitis
  • https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29176974/
  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of purified fruit bromelain (PFB)-induced inhibition of epithelial TNFR in a rat colitis model.
  • Our results showed that both TNFR1 and TNFR2 expression were significantly increased in a colitis model, and the increase was significantly reversed by PFB
  • Colitis symptoms, including infiltration of inflammatory cells, cytokine profiles, epithelial cell apoptosis, and epithelial tight junction barrier dysfunction were significantly ameliorated by PFB
  • purification of fruit bromelain increases its selectivity on TNFR2 inhibition. High expression of epithelial TNFRs in colitis was significantly counteracted by PFB

Combats cancer

  • Bromelain's activity and potential as an anti-cancer agent
  • https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0304383509005217?via%3Dihub
  • Existing evidence derived from clinical observations as well as from mouse- and cell-based models suggests that bromelain acts systemically, affecting multiple cellular and molecular targets. In recent years, studies have shown that bromelain has the capacity to modulate key pathways that support malignancy
  • It is now possible to suggest that the anti-cancer activity of bromelain consists in the direct impact on cancer cells and their micro-environment, as well as in the modulation of immune, inflammatory and haemostatic systems.

Ingredient #3: L-Methionine

Builds Bone Strength

  • A methionine-restricted diet and endurance exercise decrease bone mass and extrinsic strength but increase intrinsic strength in growing male rats
  • https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0022316622008707?via%3Dihub
  • After an 8-wk intervention period, exercise-trained rats had a 9.2% lower body weight (BW) than did sedentary rats (P < 0.05). Additionally, 0.17% Met-fed rats had 32% lower BW when compared with rats fed the other 2 diets (P < 0.05)
  • Serum osteocalcin was lower in the 0.17% Met-Ex group compared with the other 2 exercise groups and the 0.17% Met group (P < 0.05). Serum concentrations of C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen were lower in exercise-trained and 0.17% Met-fed rats than in sedentary rats and rats fed the other 2 diets (P < 0.05 for both)
  • Rats fed the 0.17% Met diet had lower trabecular bone volume, bone mineralization activities, and bone mineral content (BMC; e.g., total, cortical, and spongy BMC) and bone mineral density (BMD; e.g., total and spongy BMD) indices compared with rats fed the other 2 diets (P < 0.05). Exercise-trained rats also had lower bone mineralization activity, trabecular osteoclast density, total BMC, cortical BMC, and total BMD compared with sedentary rats (P < 0.05)
  • The results indicate that MR and endurance exercise caused lower whole bone mass, size, and/or strength but might enhance intrinsic bone strength.

Ingredient #4: L-Cysteine

  • Starting at the age of 6 weeks, ZDF rats were supplemented orally (daily gavage, 8 weeks) with saline placebo (D) or l-cysteine (LC; 1 mg/kg bw) and fed a high-calorie diet. Six-week-old rats without any supplementation were considered baseline (BL) rats.
  • LC supplementation significantly lowered blood levels of glucose (18%, p= 0.05), glycated Hb (8%, p= 0.02), CRP (23%, p= 0.02), MCP-1 (32%, p= 0.01), and insulin resistance (25%)
  • Although LC did not change blood hematocrit or levels of transaminases, it did lower alkaline phosphatase (29%, p= 0.01) levels

Has Antioxidant Properties

  • Mechanisms underlying the cardioprotective effect of L-cysteine
  • https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11010-005-4817-y
  • This study aimed to test the hypothesis that supplying hearts with 0.5 mM L-cysteine would preserve glutathione levels leading to an increased resistance to ischaemia reperfusion.
  • Hearts treated with 0.5 mM L-cysteine showed a significantly higher recovery of rate pressure product (16,256+/- 1288 mmHg bpm vs. 10,324+/- 2102 mmHg bpm, p < 0.05) and a significantly lower release of LDH (0.54+/- 0.16 IU/g wet weight vs. 1.44+/- 0.31 IU/g wet weight, p < 0.05) compared to controls. Also, the L-cysteine treated group showed significantly better preservation of ATP and GSH during ischaemia in comparison to control.
  • 0.5 mM L-cysteine may include: increased anaerobic energy production either directly or through reduced degradation of adenine nucleotides; direct scavenging of free radicals; and/or improved antioxidant capacity through glutathione preservation.

Ingredient #5: Cilantro leaf powder

Helps lower blood sugar

  • Hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects of Coriandrum sativum L. in Meriones shawi rats
  • https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0378874111004363?via%3Dihub
  • A single oral dose and after daily dosing for 30 days
  • A single dose of CS-extract (20mg) or GLB suppressed hyperglycemia in OHH rats, and normo-glycemia was achieved at 6-h post-dose; there was no effect on lipids, TG or insulin, but IR decreased significantly.
  • The hypoglycemic effect was lower in normal rats. In the sub-chronic study in OHH rats, the test substances (CS-extract>GLB) reduced plasma glucose (normoglycemia on Day 21), insulin and IR, TC, LDL-cholesterol, and TG.
  • Atherosclerotic index decreased while cardioprotective indices increased only by CS-extract, with no effect on BW, urea or creatinine.
  • Sub-chronic administration of CS-extract in OHH Meriones shawi rats normalized glycemia and decreased the elevated levels of insulin, IR, TC, LDL-cholesterol and TG

Benefits heart health

  • Coriander fruit exhibits gut modulatory, blood pressure lowering and diuretic activities

Ingredient #6: Butcher's broom extract (Rhizome)

Reduce Symptoms of Orthostatic Hypotension

  • Ruscus aculeatus (butcher's broom) as a potential treatment for orthostatic hypotension, with a case report
  • https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11152059/
  • Ruscus aculeatus, a phytotherapeutic agent containing ruscogenins and flavonoids, may prove useful for the treatment of OH if denervation is not so advanced that it has compromised receptor activity at the venous wall. Ruscus aculeatus is an alpha-adrenergic agonist that causes venous constriction by directly activating postjunctional alpha1- and alpha2-receptors, in turn stimulating the release of noradrenaline at the level of the vascular wall
  • It also possesses venotonic properties: it reduces venous capacity and pooling of blood in the legs and exerts protective effects on capillaries, the vascular endothelium, and smooth muscle. Its flavonoid content strengthens blood vessels, reduces capillary fragility, and helps maintain healthy circulation.
  • Unlike most of the drug therapies used to treat OH, Ruscus aculeatus does not cause supine hypertension. It also appears to do something no other therapy can offer--alleviate the worsening effects of OH in environmentally hot conditions.
  • Ruscus aculeatus shows great promise for ameliorating the symptoms of OH and improving the quality of life for large groups in the population.

Treat Poor Blood Circulation

  • Meta-analysis of clinical trials of Cyclo 3 Fort in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency
  • A meta-analysis using data from all clinical trials and studies of Cyclo 3 Fort, a combination of root extract of the Ruscus aculeatus plant (150 mg per capsule), hesperidin methyl chalcone (150 mg) and ascorbic acid (100 mg)
  • The meta-analysis included 20 placebo controlled, randomised, double blind studies and 5 randomised studies against a comparator drug.
  • On a 4 point symptom severity scale, where 0 corresponds to no symptoms and 3 to severe symptoms, Cyclo 3 Fort significantly reduces the severity of pain by 0.44 (0.12) points; cramps 0.26 (0.08), heaviness 0.53 (0.11), and paraesthesia 0.29 (0.10) compared to placebo.
  • There is also a significant reduction in venous capacity of 0.70 (0.19) ml/100 ml with Cyclo 3 Fort compared to placebo.
  • We also found reductions in the severity of oedema 0.43 (0.20) points, and decreases in calf and ankle circumference, 0.73 (0.37) cms and 1.17 (0.83) cm, respectively, among patients treated with Cyclo 3 Fort compared to placebo which were not statistically significant.

  • Renal NF-κB activity, as wells as protein expression and infiltration of macrophages were increased in diabetic kidneys, accompanied by an increase in protein content of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 in kidney tissues.
  • All of the above abnormalities were reversed by ruscogenin treatment, which also decreased the expression of transforming growth factor-β1 and fibronectin in the diabetic kidneys.
  • Our data demonstrated that ruscogenin suppressed the inflammation and ameliorated the structural and functional abnormalities of the diabetic kidney in rats might be associated with inhibition of NF-κB mediated inflammatory genes expression.

I take so many other supplements, I can't tell how this one is working in my body. I just want to do all I can nutritionally for my AFib heart disease.

I'm really impressed so far with the Cardio Flow product. Since starting taking it, my Afib is improved and occurs less frequently. My wife also uses it, and she is having better blood pressure readings.
